Name: Valentina Damiano
Play by: Jessica Alba
Nickname: Val, Tina
She is very pretty, with olive skin, dark eyes, and straight brown hair. She has full lips and a pert nose, and stands at an average height, neither short nor tall.
Valentina is kind of flighty. She has been this way since her mother died, having taken it in a different manner than her siblings because of her vivid imagination. She imagined that instead of dying, her mother ran away to become a famous opera singer, and that perhaps one day, she would see her again. She knows this is not the case in her adulthood, but she refused to mourn in her childhood. She is not so much lazy as she simply wishes to use her energy elsewhere. She is a bubbly and vivacious personality, though can be very impulsive!
She hopes that her father comes out of his room to breathe the fresh air of Venice, and she hopes that he lets her do something else with her life besides cleaning other peoples' messes
Her mother died and the whole dynamic of the family seemed to shift. Her father stays in his room, trapped in mourning for her, while the others seemed to be forced to grow up and take on the responsibilities that were being neglected. The life she knew and the life she wanted are two, very different things. Rather than holding onto a broom, Tina wished to see the world. But things were what they were! She felt trapped in a life she did not even want, restless, and always taking off to do things without telling anyone where she was going. Oftentimes, it was to theater, and others, it was to take in the beauty of Venice. Perhaps her coping mechanism was to go into a fantasy world that pushed away reality? She didn't pretend to know. But she did know, it hurt her heart to know her dear papa would not ever leave the confines of his room, and she hated the shadows cast over the inn by this forever mourning. She simply could not live that way. Without her family knowing, she had been running off to live her life.
She was still a good girl in many ways, still chaste and untouched, for she did at least want to keep her chastity intact, but she was still rebellious. She happened to like watching the opera very much, and the way the actors moved on stage. She still imagined that her mother was someone singing to her, caked in the rice powder make up and heavily applied lip color. Perhaps it was her way of coping with the loss of both parents, for her father's body might yet live but it was as if his body had died with her. Another thing she did most of the time was simply move around Venice with curiosity... She had her favorite things to see and do, and would keep doing it no matter how much her siblings disapproved. Perhaps things might change if they actually took the time to try and talk to her without.... getting upset at her selfishness.
